WPMNews.com – The United States (US) says Iran has violated the international non-proliferation convention. Because, Iran has not announced all its chemical weapons capabilities to the global chemical weapons body in The Hague, the Netherlands.

US envoy for the Chemical Weapons Prohibition Organization (OPCW), Kenneth Ward said, Iran had failed to report production facilities for filling air bombs. He also accused Iran of maintaining a program to get banned ammunition.

“The United States has long had concerns that Iran has maintained a chemical weapons program that failed to announce it to OPCW,” Ward said at the OPCW conference.

“The United States is also concerned that Iran is also pursuing chemical system chemicals for offensive purposes,”Reuters on Friday (11/23/2018).

Ward said Iran failed to declare the transfer of chemical weapons to Libya in the 1980s, even after Libya declared it to OPCW in 2011.

Ward cited the discovery of chemical-filled artillery projectiles, mortars and air bombs from Iran as evidence that Tehran did not fully express its capabilities.

There was no immediate reaction from Iran to the statement.
